A lifetime surfer brought up in a family of boat builders and waterman, Robert has a genuine love for the ocean. His paintings are uniquely driven by a surfer's perspective and his work embraces the joy, the fear, and the awesome wonder that bonds all surfers.

As a Malibu resident he frequently enjoys and explores the places that inspire him to paint.While primarily a self taught painter, Robert has studied at Pratt Institute, the Art Students League, and Santa Clara University. His early work in sculpture earned his recognition on New York's 57th street galleries .

His experience as Visual Effects Artist in Feature Films has honed his sure sense of light. color, and composition. First and foremost a fine artist, Robert describes his painting experience by a favorite quote, "Our truest life is when we are in our dreams awake"
