EXHIBIT AT THE MALIBU NATURE PRESERVE We are preparing for our 8th exhibit with the Malibu Nature Preserve located at 33905 PCH in Malibu. The exhibit will be on Sunday, October 10 from11am to 5pm. This is always a successful show and all our members are encouraged to participate. Registration forms for this event will be sent with the September newsletter. As usual, entries must be representational art depicting the Santa Monica Mountains or beaches and must be properly framed and wired. If you have any questions, please call the show chair Pat Ryan: 310-457-3190. Bruce Trentham will be producing the invitation postcards to be mailed to clients and friends. If you have a painting that you will be exhibiting at the Malibu Nature Preserve and would like him to consider it for the postcard, please email a maximum of 3 digital photos to bmtrentham@charter.net The deadline for photos is August 13. Please note: to avoid having a paint out on the same weekend as this show, we have rescheduled the October Paint Out to Saturday, October 16. ____________________________________
ARTIST NEWS Pong Apinyavat won First Place for his watercolor "Bay Light" at the “May Art Fest” of the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley May 5 - 30. Mike and Rosemary Bauer also exhibited at the Arts Council show and Mike won an Honorable Mention for a pastel landscape he did at Charmlee Park. The Bauers are both currently exhibiting in the Ventura County Maritime Museum's 2010 Plein Air Exhibit June 3 - July 29. The exhibit is at the Ventura County Maritime Museum at Channel Islands Harbor, 2731 S. Victoria Avenue, Oxnard. Carole Garland has her work on display at the Venice ArtForum “Studio Vision” which is a benefit for the art program at the Alcott Center for Mental Health. Sandy Glover is featured artist at the National Park Service Visitor’s Center at 401 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. Her watercolor and oil paintings of the SM Mountains flora and fauna will be on exhibit from July 3 through July 28. The reception is on July 3 from 1:30- 3:00pm. Emily Goldfield and Mike Bauer are part of the Pastel Society of the Gold Coast’s show at the Thousand Oak Community Gallery from July 2-30, 2010. The Gallery is located at 2331 Borchard Rd in Newbury Park. The Reception will be on Sunday July 11 from 12-3pm. Rob Word will have paintings on exhibit at the Towns Burr Gallery’s “Western Art Round Up” from July10-30. The opening reception will be on July 10th from 5-8PM at 3609 W. Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505 __________________________________
